Manuel Olveda happened upon the photo and decided that as an Obama supporter, he was not about to be outdone.
Putting together and painting some leftover boat oars, a pool ladder, box, and a board, he crafted the below-pictured sign for the Obama-Biden campaign.

Sadly, the handmade McCain sign has since been replaced by some official ones.
In this writer's opinion, hand-crafted signage speaks volumes more about a candidate's appeal than shiny ones from some far-off campaign office.
Mr. Olveda will want to hang onto those paddles...if Obama makes it into office we will all be up a creek without any...they may come in handy.

In case clarification is needed, the above comment did not come from yours truly (the author of this post). We CJ's differ in our political opinions from time-to-time.
ReplyDeletePersonally I think this is just one more example of how enthusiastic Obama suporters are all across the United States.
ReplyDeleteI also second our blogmaster CJ in thinking that, coming from either side of the political spectrum, homemade signs and support are much more refreshing to see than the mass produced political signs.
Regardless of who the sign touts, perhaps the Powell Tribune (or other entity) should sponsor a best election sign (homemade of course) award to be handed out on the eve of the elections(s)... in the spirit of the parade of homes.
ReplyDeleteMorgan that's honestly a brilliant idea. We'll bounce it around the office.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great sign...I love it!
ReplyDeleteBravo Mr.Olveda....
Gallup Polls conducted in 70 countries from May to September 2008 reveal widespread international support for Democratic Sen. Barack Obama over Republican Sen. John McCain in the U.S. presidential election. Among these nations, representing nearly half of the world's population, 30% of citizens say they would personally rather see Obama elected president of the United States, compared with just 8% who say the same about McCain.

ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see how the media treats Obama once he is in power (and he will be.. at whatever cost, right or wrong, legally or not). It seems he can do no wrong now, regardless of what he says, who associates with, his past affiliations, etc, etc.
ReplyDeleteWhen the Democratic party has full control of everything, will it be possible to still blame problems on the Republicans? I bet they find a way...
The creek we are going down scares the hell out of me...can I borrow a paddle?
